Joseph J. Wirtz, 74, of 400 W. Market, Mahanoy City, died Tuesday, July 4, in his home. He was the husband Blanche (Seader) Lawson Wirtz and the late Anna (Palmer) Wirtz.
He was employed by the City Shirt Factory, formerly Mahanoy City, before retiring.
Born in Mahanoy City, he was a son of the late Joseph and Nora (McQuade) Wirtz.
He was a member of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, Mahanoy City.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of American Legion Post 74, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was also a member of the Elks Lodge 695, and a life member of the Good American Hose Company. He also served as a Mahanoy City borough councilman.
