Sir John Gibbons, 2nd Bt. was the son of Sir William Gibbons, 1st Bt. and Frances Hall. He married Martha Kenrick, daughter of Reverend Dr. Scawen Kenrick. He died on 9 July 1776.
He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Wallingford. He was invested as a Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Gibbons, of Stanwell Place, Middlesex [G.B., 1752] in May 1760.
