GLOUSTER — Raymond Travis Nott, 19, of Glouster, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2003, in Perry County. He was born Feb. 16, 1984, in Bethesda, Md.
Travis was employed by Krogers of Trimble and was a sophomore at Ohio University. He graduated from Trimble High School in 2001, where he was a member of the National Honor Society, president of Student Council and a member of the Trimble Mock Trial Team. He received many honors in football. In 2001, he was 1st Team All TVC, 1st Team All District and Honorable Mention All-State. He also was working as an assistant coach with the Trimble football program.
Travis received a Congressional nomination to the U.S. Naval Academy. He was a delegate at Buckeye Boys' State and, thereafter, served as a Boys' State counselor. He was a member and patriotic instructor for John S. Townsend Camp 108 Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War; a member of Sons of Veteran Reserves, where he served in Battery I, 1st Ohio Light Artillery Co. and served as a corporal in the 63rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry Co. G; and was a member of the National Civil War Artillery Association.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Palmer Anderson of Three Rivers, Texas; his father and stepmother, Isaac J. and Janie Nott of Glouster; a grandmother, Rose Palmer of Buffalo, N.Y.; a brother, Trent Nott of Glouster; half sisters, Tara Kock of Jacksonville and Calendra Nott of Arizona; a stepbrother, Josh Reynolds of Glouster; stepsisters, Gina Shoults of New Lexington, Kim Nutter of Logan and Stacy Reynolds of New Lexington; stepgrandparents, Roy and Helen Anderson of Wisconsin Dells, Wis.; and a large extended family. He also is survived by a special group of friends known as the "Four Horsemen," which included Travis, Jeff Trace, Adam Faires and Kyle Andrews; and a close friend, Phil Faires.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Roy Anderson; paternal grandparents, Raymond and Lillian Nott; and maternal grandfather, Raymond Palmer.
Travis will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Services will be held Friday, 11 a.m., at Bishopville Church of Christ, with John Wright officiating. Following the funeral service, Travis will be cremated and his cremains will be taken to Gettysburg National Park.
A memorial stone will be placed at Beech Grove Cemetery, at a later date.
Friends may call at the church on Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
