Walter Bryan assumed operation of the barber shop when his father died in 1926. Like his father, Walt, as he was most often called, was active in church and community affairs. He was a trustee of the Oldtown Baptist Church, a master mason, promoter of the school, and farmer. His greatest pride was his horses, and his favorite was a white horse named "Dan," which he rode to and from work.
Walter was married in 1914 to Leota Hale, who still resides at the old home place in Oldtown. At the age of 80 she is still active in church affairs and attends many senior citizen functions. Seven children were born to Walt and Leota: Rudolph, Lotis Blair, Richard (deceased), Walter, Jr., Rose Kyle, Gilbert, and Leota Saunders.
