Fred Blair, 67, well known Galax citizen, died at his home at Oldtown, after a short illness, Friday night, March 4, 1960.
Born in Grayson County September 5, 1892, he was a son of Wilson Blair and Mrs. Emaline Jennings Blair. The deceased man was a familiar figure on the streets of Galax for many years and was familiar to many as "Preacher" or "Uncle Fred".
Surviving are one son, Dwight Blair, Gary, W.Va.; one daughter, Mrs. Helen Johnson, Roanoke, and one brother, Roby Blair, Galax.
Funeral services were held in the Vaughan-Guynn Fuenral Home Chapel. The Rev. J. B. Beamer conducted the serivces. Interment was in Oldtown Cemetery.
