Maria Teodora Alarid was born 13 November 1838 in Santa Fe County, New Mexico, the daughter of Juan Antonio Alarid and Maria Guadalupe Quintana. She was a member of the first novitiate class in Santa Fe. She was received December 12, 1856, made her first vows on October 1, 1859 and her final vows on October 20, 1862. There is no statement of the work Sister Clara performed in Loretto. We do know she was missioned in Santa Fe until 1870, when she was sent as a founding member of the Convent in Las Cruces. She also served in Taos. She died in 1895 in Las Cruces, Dona Ana, New Mexico.

She is buried under the name M. Clarita (Clara) Alarid in this cemetery.
