William J. Anderson, 52, 217 Short St., died Monday, June 24, 2002, in the emergency room of Methodist North Park Hospital, Gary, Ind., after being stricken be an apparent heart attack while at work at the PI & I terminal in Gary. Mr. Anderson was born Feb. 16, 1950, in Youngstown, the son of Charles and Theresa Warfield Anderson. He had been an employee for 29 1/2 years by PI & I Trucking as a driver. He had been recognized several times as the company's Driver of the Year and Most Outstanding Driver, and he even recieved the company Loyalty Award. He had a clean driving record, which showed that he never recieved a traffic citation nor was he ever involved in an accident. Bill was a 1968 graduate of South High School and enjoyed boating, fishing, camping and spending his spare time loving and helping to raise his grandchildren. His wife, the former Rev. Barbara Jean Young Anderson, whom he married Sept. 26, 1970, proceded him in death April 10, 2002. He is survived and will be deeply missed by his loving family, which includes his mother of Masury; a son, William J. Jr., with whom he made his home; his daughters, Miss Heidi J. of Glendale, Ariz., and Debbie at home; his five grandchildren, Melanie, Angel, Tiffany, Shane and Rachel; three brothers, Charles of Phoenix, Edward of Youngstown, and Roy of Masury; four sisters, Routh Magazine of Niles, Kathleen Kopcheck and Edith Ann Jarome, both of Youngstown. and Mary Slegel of Mohove Valley, Ariz. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Kerr Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in Kerr Cemetery.
