Joseph Andrade, 85, of Freehold, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at The Manor Nursing Home. Born in Pawtucket, RI., he resided in Clark, before moving to Freehold 20 years ago. Mr. Andrade served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked for the Singer Company in Elizabeth and as a systems analyst for Lockheed-Martin in Wayne, prior to his retirement in 1989. Joseph was a professional musician and played both saxophone and clarinet in the Army band. He was an accomplished arranger for the Big Bands of the 1940's. He continued his musical career in local entertainment as a member of the Bill Martin Band. Mr. Andrade truly loved The Lord, his family, and his music.

Mr. Andrade is survived by his wife, Lucy; two daughters and sons-in-laws, Diane and Joseph Vella of Hazlet, and Patricia and Sandor Balazs of Linden; three brothers, Manuel of Clearwater, FL., and Dominick and Fernando, both of Clinton; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009 at the Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main St., Freehold. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2009 at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Woodbridge.
