Born in Port Reading, he was a lifelong resident.
Retiring in 1987, he was employed as head custodian for Woodbridge Board of Education, for 25 years. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Port Reading, a member of Port Reading, and Sewaren Senior Citizens.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Jennie Mazur and Carmella Slachetka.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, the former Margaret Hasinec; a daughter, Donna Barbato, and a sister, Louise Barbato of Port Reading.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Monday, from Chubenko Funeral Home, 625 Port Reading Ave., Port Reading, followed by a 9 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial from St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church, Port Reading, with entombment to follow at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2 p.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Port Reading First Aid Squad or St. Anthony of Padua R.C. Church c/o the funeral home.
