       Death Claims John Ashton
    At his home on Shawnee avenue yesterday afternoon death claimed John Ashton after a year's illness of Bright's disease. He was 79 years of age and one of the oldest residents of town. He was a deacon of the Welsh Baptist Church for more than half a century and was a man well known and respected throughout the community. For some years he conducted a store on Shawnee avenue, and his square and honest dealings won him the confidence of his townspeople. He is survived by his wife and daughter Jeanette, at home; one brother, Thomas S. Jones, and three sisters, Mrs. John E. Jones, of town, and Margaret Williams and Mrs. James Lewis of Wales. The funeral will be held on wednesday afternoon with brief services at the house at 2 o'clock, and at the Welsh Baptist Church at 2:30. Friends wishing to view the remains may do so at the house, as the casket will not be opened in the church. All are asked to omit flowers. Interment in Shawnee Cemetery.
