Barbara Chandler Allen, 82, died Saturday, September 24 at Mission Hospital. A native of Madison County, Mrs. Allen was retired from the Madison County office of the USDA Farmers Home Administration and had worked at French Broad Electric. She was a member of the Walnut Presbyterian Church.


Mrs. Allen was a daughter of the late Jonas Calvin Chandler and Minnie Rue Smith Chandler. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Ervin Allen; three sisters and two brothers.


Mrs. Allen is survived by: son, David Allen and wife Nancy of Marshall; daughter, Dana Allen Sessions and husband, Steve of Clayton and granddaughter, Sabrina Dawn Allen of Weaverville.


Funeral services for Mrs. Allen will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Walnut Presbyterian Church conducted by Reverend Dr. Gene Linton. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Madison Funeral Home.
