William Albert Best, 73, a life-long resident and retired fisherman of Stumpy Point, died Tuesday night [Feb. 3, 1953] at his home after a long illness.
He was the son of the late Joe Harvey and Adeline Gray Best of Stumpy Point and husband of Lucy Cutrell Best, who is a native of Hyde County.
He is survived by 5 sons: Alton, Guy, Harvey, Woodrow, and W.A. Jr.; 2 daughters: Mrs. Clyde Payne and Mrs. Harold Wise, all of Stumpy Point.
A funeral service was conducted on Thursday at Stumpy Point Methodist Church with Rev. A.L.G. Stephenson officiating. Burial was in the community cemetery.
