A graveside service for Virginia Tillage Armistead, 83, was held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in H. C. Smither Memorial Cemetery, Hudgins. She died Friday, May 15, 1998.
Mrs. Armistead was a native of Gloucester and a resident of Mathews for most of her life. She was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church, Peary. She retired as a teacher in Mathews County public schools after many years of service.
She was the widow of Russell E. Armistead, Sr.
Survivors include a daughter, Yvonne Adams of Yorktown; and a son, Russell Armistead, Jr. of Winston-Salem, N. C.; three grandchildren; one great grandchild; a sister, Robbie T. Hall; and a brother, John H. Tillage, both of Gloucester Point.
Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, was in charge of arrangements.
