Nikolai Ivanovich Ageev (April 18, 1922 - July 7, 1988) was a Soviet soldier and participant in the Great Patriotic War on the Eastern Front in World War II. He served as Tank Platoon Commander of the 12th Guards Tank Brigade of the 4th Guards Tank Corps of the 59th Army of the 1st Ukrainian Front.

He was born on April 18, 1922 in the village of Bibikovo. In 1936 he graduated from 8th grade. He worked as an assembly fitter at the Gorky Aviation Plant. He enlisted in the Red Army in July 1942. In 1943 he graduated from the Gorky Tank School.

In September 1943, he became the Commander of a tank platoon of the 12th Guards Tank Brigade. In January 1945, Guard Lieutenant Ageev received the task of seizing a crossing over the Przemyśl River in the eastern city of Katowice (Poland) and holding it until the approach of the main forces. The platoon was the first to cross the bridge and take up the defense. During the day, the platoon repelled 7 counterattacks, destroyed an assault gun, 4 armored personnel carriers, 3 guns, 12 heavy machine guns, and a lot of other combat equipment and manpower of the enemy.

In February 1945 during the Lower Silesian offensive operation, one captured ex-German "Panther" tank with an experienced crew from 4th Tank Corps under the command of the Lt. N. I. Ageev was used in a reconnaissance mission. At dusk, the tank passed through the forest, attacked from the flank and destroyed three enemy "Panther" tanks, but then, during the retreat to Soviet positions, it was hit by enemy artillery and damaged. After the battle the tank was written off due to lack of spare parts and maintenance problems.

For courage and heroism shown in battles, Guard Lieutenant Ageev Nikolai Ivanovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union on April 10, 1945 with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 4838).

After the war he continued to serve in the army. In 1955 he graduated from the Military Academy of Armored Forces . He served in the army in command positions, and was a teacher at the Department of Tactics of the Military Academy of Armored Forces. He retired in 1984.

He died in Moscow on July 7, 1988 and was buried at the Vagankovskoye Cemetery.
