Mr. Michael A. "Mike" Alcaraz, 26, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Monday as a result of a motor vehicle accident on Route 22 near Allentown.
Mr. Alcaraz was born in Pottsville, Aug. 10, 1979, a son of Phillip M. Alcaraz, Shenandoah, and Christine D. Horan Alcaraz, Mount Carbon.
He worked as a delivery person for Bill's Produce, Schuylkill Haven, for several years and then went to work for Bedway Produce, also located in Schuylkill Haven.
He was a member of St. Francis DeSales Church, Mount Carbon.
He graduated from Pottsville Area High School in 1997.
He was a member of Citizens Fire Company, Palo Alto, and an altar server for St. Francis DeSales Church.
He loved to go fishing and to ride his ATV.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a maternal grandmother, Dorothy Botchle Horan, Shenandoah; two sisters, Denise M., wife of Edward Stavinski, Frackville, and Sherryann, wife of Ivan Quick, Aristes; a godson, Keith A. Stavinski, Frackville; a fiance, Danata N. Jenkins, Palo Alto; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis DeSales Church, Mount Carbon, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, with the Rev. Edward B. Connolly officiating. Interment will be in Annunciation BVM Chapel, West Mahanoy Township, Shenandoah Heights. Relatives and friends are invited to call on the family Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in care of Michael's family to Christine Alcaraz at 58 Main St., Mount Carbon, PA 17901.
