Longtime Graniteville resident Frances Accardi, 71, a homemaker dedicated to her family, died Tuesday at Golden Gate Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Meiers Corners.

She was born Frances Gulotta and raised in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. She settled in Graniteville in 1973 and lived there until nine months ago, when she entered the nursing home.

Mrs. Accardi worked for five years as an operator for New York Telephone in Brooklyn. She left the work force to become a homemaker.

She had a wonderful personality and laughed all the time, her family said.

Mrs. Accardi enjoyed bowling and playing bocce. She also loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church, Pleasant Plains.

Her husband of thirty-five years, Frank, died in 1991.

Surviving are her sons, Frank, Jr., Louis, and Joseph, and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Monday from the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, Eltingville, with a mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
