HELENE M. KAUFMAN ABATE, 81, of Teaneck died Sunday. Before retiring in 1967, she was head bookkeeper for the Richmond County National Bank, Staten Island, for 27 years. She was a member of the Staten Island Power Squadron and the Great Kills Yacht Club, Staten Island. She had been a Staten Island resident for 80 years before moving to Teaneck in February. Surviving are her husband, Frank J.; a brother, Harold, of Staten Island; and three sisters, Marie Kennedy and Margery Taverna, both of Staten Island, and Dorothy Kettner in Florida. Mass will be said Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption R.C. Church, with burial in Moravian Cemetery, both in Staten Island. Friends may visit today and tomorrow from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Silvie Funeral Home, Staten Island.
