Edith E. Adamcik, 87, of Castleton Corners, a longtime Staten Island resident and a retired administrative assistant, died Thursday at her home.

Born Edith E. Todd in Brooklyn, she moved to Stapleton in 1918. Mrs. Adamcik moved to Westerleigh as a young woman and settled in Castleton Corners in the 1950s.

The Curtis High School graduate worked as an administrative assistant in the St. George office of the City Department of Social Services for about twenty years, retiring in 1978.

Mrs. Adamcik was a past matron for the Order of the Eastern Star, Richmond Chapter, and was a member of the Castleton Corners chapter of the AARP.

She enjoyed reading, cooking, and crocheting.
Mrs. Adamcik was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Graniteville.

"She was our loving Big Gram," her family said.
Mrs. Adamcik's husband, John, died in 1985.

Surviving are her son, John T.; her daughter, Aimee Cannon; two brothers, Alfred and Frank Todd; a sister, Emily Turner; thirteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Adamcik's daughter, Joan Jackson, died in 1992.

The funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the Casey Funeral Home, Castleton Corners.
Burial will follow in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
