Son of William Thomas and Hazel Pate Smith Altman. Billy married (1) Barbara Evansco, and (2) Sandra Ellen Maxwell.

GREENSBURG - William P. Altman, who had been a local resident for five years, was a native of South Carolina, being born Nov. 18, 1923 at Marion, SC, passed away December 5. He was the son of William P. and Hazel Smith Altman.

He leased the scrap metal business on S. Monfort St. here from the late Mose Levenstein late in 1970 and had operated it since that time. Mr. Altman had previous experience in the salvage business with the Volunteers of America organization at Indianapolis, where he formerly lived.

He was united in marriage May 4, 1973 with Sandra Ellen Maxwell, a registered nurse, and she survives.

Also surviving are one son, Michael William Altman of Greensburg; two daughters, Mrs. Timothy (Debra) Pogue of Lexington, Ky. and Miss Renee Altman of the home; a stepdaughter, Tracy, also at home; and a half brother, Major Wade Smith Lovings of Richmond, Va.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at J. H. Porter & Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Baxter, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. The body will be taken to Marion, S.C. for burial in Rose Hill Cemetery there.
