He formerly resided in Lancaster, OH and was a 1924 graduate of Lancaster High School. The School Colors were Purple and Gold.

He was owner and operator of Acton Floral Co. in Lancaster for 17 years and owner of Shady Lane Greenhouse in Columbus. He was associated with Hall Wholesale Florist Supply in Tampa, Fla.

He was a 60-year member of the Order of Moose, 55-year member of Lancaster Masonic Lodge 57 and a 40-year member of First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster. Having served 17 years as a volunteer X-ray technician at Clearwater Community Hospital, he was recently honored and received a Humanitarian Award in recognition of 17,500 hours of service. His final day as a volunteer was three days before his death.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Margaret Brenstuhl Acton; parents, William E. and Lillie May Acton; brothers, Elmer and Ralph Acton; sisters, Laura Bell Acton, Mildred Smith and Florence Kaumeyer; and son-in-law, Jack Thomas.
