Georgia Ann Adams, 75, Carl Junction, Mo., passed away Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, in Freeman East Hospital, Joplin, Mo.
Georgia was born Oct. 25, 1933, in Rock Hill, S.C., the daughter of Clyde McAllister and Ina (O'Kelley) McAllister.
She was a graduate of Seneca High School, Seneca, S.C., and attended two years at Mary Washington College, Fredricksburg, Virginia. She worked as a radiology technician then became a full-time housewife and Mother. She was an active leader in Boy and Girl Scouting as her children grew up. She volunteered for many activities including church, mission work in Mexico, and various community activities. With all of her active work in her community and church, she always found time to be a devoted mother and grandmother.
She moved frequently throughout her life but finally settled in Missouri in 1997. She was a member of Christ's Community Church, Joplin. She was an active participant of the Carl Junction Senior Citizen's Center and enjoyed cards and bingo.
Survivors include her three children; a son, Kevin C. Adams and wife, Joyce; two daughters, Jennifer L. Thomas and husband, Bobby, Carl Junction, Mo., Teresa G. Prall and husband, Richard, Springfield, Mo.; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and special family friend, Glenn Sizemore and family.
Visitation will be held from 1-1:50 0.m., Wednesday, Jan.14, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage.
Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the Knell Mortuary Chapel. Pastor Chris Sloan, Christ's Community Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park Cemetery, Clearwater, Fla.
Arrangements are under the direction and care of Knell Mortuary, Carthage, Mo.
Ina O'Kelley McAllister (FAG# 102863696)adopted Georgia and raised her as her own. To Georgia and family, Ina was "Mom" and "Grandmother". There was minimal contact with her biological mother (Lillie Douglas) growing up and none into adulthood.
