ABBOTT, BARBARA J., 83, of Palm Harbor, formerly of New Port Richey, died Thursday (July 22, 2004) at Coral Oaks Retirement Community under the care of Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. Born in St. Paul, Minn., she moved here in 1999 from Melbourne. She was a University of Minnesota graduate, a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She retired as a social worker in the Norfolk, Va. area, where she served on an executive board that developed a hospice in Virginia Beach. She was a Christian. She was an accomplished seamstress and she enjoyed pingpong and golf. Survivors include a son, Larry, Clearwater; a sister, Anita; two brothers, William Pore, Virginia Beach, and Jack Swendseen; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
