Virgie Leah Lynch Altman, 81, of Bridgeport, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, March 1, 2006 at United Hospital Center, Clarksburg.

She was born October 5, 1924 in Coldwater, WV, a daughter of the late Virgil Lynch and the late Rosa Nicholson Lynch.

Virgie is survived by one son Daniel V. Altman and his wife Marsha of Colorado; two daughters Elsie May Cox and her husband David, and Georgia Swiger and her husband Earl all of Bridgeport; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one brother Terence “Ted” Lynch of Bridgeport.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Daniel George Altman on May 12, 1962; an infant son Richard Altman; two sisters Geraldine Louchery and Ernestine Jones, and one brother, Raymond Lynch.

Virgie was a beautician for forty years, having retired only two years ago this past May from Helen’s Beauty Shop in Bridgeport. A member of the Bridgeport Baptist Church, she greatly enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren.

Friends will be received at Burnside Funeral Home 607 S. Virginia Ave., Bridgeport from 2-4 and 6-8 PM Friday, where a funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday with Pastor Tom Edgell presiding. Interment will follow in Bridgeport Cemetery.
