Loren K. Archer

Loren K. Archer, 71, of Fair St., Middlebourne, departed this life Jan. 14, 2003.

He was born Oct 17, 1931, in Pursley, W. Va., a son of the late Arthur D. and Sylvia K. Folger Archer.

He was a retired manager of the training of the Bayer Corp., Natrium, W. Va., with 35 years of service. he was a member of the Middlebourne Baptist Church, a graduate of Tyler County high School, Middlebourne, served as a member of the West Virginia Ethics Commission, the Tyler County School Board and the Middlebourne Town Council. he also served on the Board of Directors of the Bayer Corporation Employees Federal Credit Union. He was the 1996 Tyler County Coordinator for the Gov. Cecil Underwood Campaign and the chairman of the Tyler County Republican Executive committee.

He is survived by his wife, Gertie Sole Archer; one son, Brent K. and his wife, Dr. Andrea Archer, of Ashburn, Va.; one daughter, Jana M. and her husband, Angus Stenson of Martinsburg, W. Va.; three brothers, Stanford L. Archer of Paden City, Glenn R. Archer of Livermore, Ky., and A. Elliott Archer of Carmel, Ind.; four sisters, Betty N. Fetty of Pursley, Donna June Dally of Sistersville, Margaret D. Kirkwood of Mayfield, Ky., and Jean Wilson of Marietta; and three grandchildren, Marcus, Amber, and Brookeann Stensen of Martinsburg.

Preceding him in death was one sister, Juanita A. Goodfellow, in 1961.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Furbee Funeral Home, Middlebourne, with Rev. Steve DeLay officiating, assisted by the Rev. Glenn Archer. Interment will be in Middlebourne Cemetery. Friends will be relieved from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
