William Gregory "Greg" Akers, 45 of Chesapeake went home to be with the Lord on November 2, 2013 at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington.

He was a longtime employee of the WV Department of Highways and was a member of Living Faith Church, Marmet. He was a 1986 Graduate of Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, VA and was a graduate of Concord University in Athens. He also attended West Virginia University in Morgantown and loved his Mountaineers.

He was preceded in death by Maternal Grandparents: Leroy and Jacqueline Atkins Vickers,
Paternal Grandparents: Dan and Elizabeth W. Akers
Uncle: Terry Vickers,

Surviving Are:

Mother: Sharon "Sherry" Vickers Akers of Charleston,

Father: William J. (Patty Sue) Akers of Princeton,

Brother: Bo Akers of Los Angeles, CA,

Sisters: Kris Goldstein (John) Adams of Waxhaw, NC,
and Katherine (Oliver) Akers Hidalgo of Morgantown,

Step Brother and best friend: Mike White of Athens, WV

Step-Brothers: Alvin (Robin) White,
Tony (Regina) White and
Jimmy (Telia) White all of Princeton,

Uncle: Danny (Carolyn) Akers of Princeton,

Ex wife: Paula Yanero Blount and

Several nieces and nephews.

The family would also like to thank his co-worker and good friend Tim Sedosky who was so kind and went above and beyond to help during Greg's illness.

Funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday November 8, 2013 at Living Faith Church, Marmet with Pastor Frank Thomas and Pastor Mark Thomas officiating.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday November 7, 2013 at the Church. Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet is in charge of those arrangements.

A second Funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday November 10, 2013 at Seaver Funeral Home, Princeton with a visitation 1 hour prior to that service. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park, Princeton.
