Born to Willis A. and Myrtle Arlene (Pemberton) Green in San Diego, CA. on June 21, 1934, Jean passed away at her home in Mariposa, CA. on Friday, February 27, 2015 at the age of 80.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dee Akers, one son Joseph Meagher, one sister, Leona Torres, and three brothers, Robert Green and Jerry and Garry Thatcher.
Jean is survived by her two sons, Grant McFarland, David Meagher and a daughter Deanne Lundin; two grandchildren; one sister Shirley Offill and four brothers, Bill, Bryce, Johnnie and Earl; her loving friend and companion, Dwight and a large number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
As a youngster, Jean lived in Cathey's Valley for a number of years, and attended grammar school there; she graduated from Merced High School and was a Federal Military (Civilian) employee, retiring after 31 years of service from Castle Air Force Base in Atwater, CA. She was a strong Christian lady that belonged to the "Circle of Friends" at the Mariposa United Methodist Church where she was a member, She was also of the Order of the Eastern Star, and active in the local chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal employees.
Jean treasured her family and friends and was extremely proud of her grandsons, Leo and Alex, and longed to have been able to spend more time with them. She loved her Mariposa home, and felt safe and secure there with family and friends nearby. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who had the pleasure and privilege of knowing and loving her.
