Simon Ammons, 80, well known Perry Township farmer, died at his home on the Mason-Dixon line, near Pentress, W. Va., at 1:15 a.m. yesterday (Tuesday), Sept. 18, 1945. Mr. Ammons had been in ill health for more than two years.
The last of a family of 14 children, he was a son of David and Mary Pyles Ammons, and was born Feb. 7, 1865, in Perry Township where he spent all his life. Mr. Ammons was a member of the Olive Methodist Church. He married Amy C. Masters, who died in 1943. Mr. Ammons leaves one son, Chauncey D. Ammons, R.D. 1, Mt. Morris; one daughter, Mrs. Dayton Clark, R.D. 1, Mt. Morris, and two grandchildren.
