He entered the military service in 1943, where he performed duties of a rifleman in the 2nd division, 38th unfantry in France and Belgium. He was captured in Belgium on December 17, 1944 and held prisoner until May 8, 1945. Upon his return to the states he was made a corporal of the military police.
He married Lorraine Polkinghorn on November 11, 1948 in Mineral Point and worked in the lead mines in the Mineral Point area. He later worked at a car dealership and for K & M Salvage Company in Mineral Point for 19 years until retiring.
He was a member of the Mineral Point VFW, American Legion in Linden and Mineral Point and the DAV. He enjoyed woodworking and traveling.
Pep also loved his favorite dog, "Molly".
Survivors include his wife, Lorraine of Mineral Point: Sisters and brothers, Betty (Charles) Hurst of Yakima, WA, Marian Roberts of Reno, NA, Mary Jane (Ron) Melvin of Madison, Don Adams of LaFarge, Beverly (Jim) Mosel of Madison and Cathi (Bob) Fischer of Oregon; his stepmother Alice Adams of Madison; brother in law Gerald (Betty) Polkinghorn of Madison, two step brothers, Jack (Jeanne)Cooper of Texas and Bob (Rose) Cooper of Albany and a great number of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, Grover Adams, Margaret Normington, Kenneth Adams, Waunita Gray/Peck and Dorothy Friede; A sister in law Judy Adams; a step sister Janet Melvin and a step brother Gerald Cooper.
Full military rights will be held, burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery next to his mother in Mineral Point, WI
