ABSTON, MRS. MARY ELIZABETH – age 77, of 304 Bedford Rd., died Saturday morning at Baptist Hospital. Preceded in death by husband Johnnie Lee Abston. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors: daughter, Mrs. Ruth King of Knoxville; sister, Mrs. Reba Green, of Pioria, Arizona; brothers, Jake Potter, Morristown, Lloyd Steadman, Maryville, 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; friends, Polly Martin and Flo Conners. Funeral service 1 p.m. Tuesday, McCarty Chapel, Rev. Kenneth Sullivan officiating. Interment Bookwalter Cemetery. Pallbearers: Ralph Headrick, Ernest Thomas, Kenneth Bettis, Ernest and James Reno, John Lawson. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Monday at McCarty Mortuary.
