ORONO – Rose Frances Casey Cushing, 88, died July 28, 2014 at an Orono health center. She was born in Milford on Sept 1, 1925, the oldest of two children of Harold C. and Alice (Spencer) Casey.

Rose grew up in Old Town, attended Old Town High School and graduated from Portland High School. She married Richard J. "Dick" Cushing in 1948 and they resided in Orrington during their life together. She worked as a legal secretary in Bangor, including Superior Court, District Court and a lawyer's office. During summer vacations, she, Dick and their daughter, Donna, enjoyed camping with friends. In later years, Rose enjoyed reading, knitting and going to lunch with friends. While residing in Orrington, she attended Mass at St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Brewer.

In addition to her parents, Rose was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Richard Cushing, and her sister, Eva Williamson.

Rose is survived by her daughter, Donna Guerrette and her husband, Roger, of Milford; her grandchildren, Jaime Rose Guerrette and Jeffrey Albert Guerrette. Rose's family gratefully thanks the compassionate staff of Orono Commons for the quality time they spent caring for Mom.
