Herbert H. Chapman, age 86, of Avon, died May 9, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Herb was born, raised and educated in Boston. He had been a resident of Avon since 1955. He was a U.S. Marine Corp World War II veteran. Herb worked as a power station operator for the MBTA for 26 years, retiring in 1985. He was an active member of the Avon VFW. He enjoyed painting, reading, traveling, home projects and spending his winters in Fort Lauderdale. He was the beloved husband of the late Agnes (McKinnon); father of Paul Chapman and his wife Joanne of Avon, Alan Chapman and his wife Cindy of Arkansas and Patricia Chapman and her companion Robert Dias of Mashpee; brother of the late Hazel Hunt. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Billy, Amanda, Matthew, Benjamin, Rebecca, and Elizabeth and his great-grandchildren, Mason, Taylor, Aaron, Chevy and Addison. Funeral from the Hurley Funeral Home 134 South Main St. (Rte. 28), Randolph, Wednesday, at 9:15 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at St. Michaels Church, Avon, at 10 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday., 4-8 p.m. Interment St. Michaels Cemetery.
