Inscription

In memory of Mrs. ELIZABETH ADAMS
wife of Mr. THOMAS ADAMS who died
Octr. 4th 1767 in y 33d. Year of her Age.

Beneath this monument of love & truth,
Rear'd at fair Gratitudes perswasive [sic] call,
Rest the remains of innocence and youth,
Esteem'd, lamented and belov'd by all.

Fond of retirement and rural ease,
Her sober wishes never learnt to stray;
Heav'n was her aim, her study how to please
And faithfully improve each passing day.

In Sentiment refin'd in converse dear,
To worth a friend a Parent to the poor;
Her Friendship warm enobling & sincere
Such was the Woman can the Saint be more.
