Publicist. Otto Winkler was American actor Clark Gable's friend and publicist. He was on the MGM payroll as press agent. When Gable's wife, actress Carole Lombard departed for a war bond selling drive, Gable asked Winkler to accompany her. On the trip home, Winkler tried to talk Lombard into taking a train. She wanted to fly, so agreed to flip a coin. She won the toss, and they flew. He was killed, along with Lombard, her mother, and 19 others, when the plane crashed outside of Las Vegas.
