Casey was raised in the Los Angeles suburb of Norwalk. In 1993 his family moved to Vacaville, California. Casey was active in scouting and became an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Vacaville High School in 1997 where he was on the honor roll. After high school, he studied theater at Solano Community College for three years before joining the Army. Because all he ever wanted to do was to serve God and his country, he initially wanted to be a chaplain's assistant, but went into mechanics training after the Army turned down his first choice. He enjoyed the military because it was just like the boy scouts but they got guns. Army Spc. Sheehan was assigned to 1st Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas. He was only in Iraq for two weeks and was killed when his unit was attacked with rocket-propelled grenades and small-arms fire in Baghdad, Iraq. He and another soldier had volunteered to be part of a quick response team when rioting started in Baghdad.
Casey was the strong, silent type who never panicked. He was a loving and caring person who would give you the shirt off his back. Casey always gave his heart to whatever he did, whether it was the Boy Scouts, the church, school plays or the Army. He always told his family that he was trained, he was ready, and they didn't have to worry – he was always ready to serve.
