Hungarian Inventor, telephone pioneer, and inventor of the telephone exchange. He was a colleague of Thomas Edison. He came up with the idea of using telephone exchanges between subscribers, invented the switchboard and built Europe's first telephone exchange. He was inventor of the "Telephonograph" (forerunner to radio) and Telephone News. He studied in Vienna, at the Technical University. He was not able to complete his studies due to his father's premature death. He married the countess Sophie Vetter von Lillien in 1880, they had three children together. He died of a heart attack while preparing to leave on a business trip at the Hotel Hungária, Budapest, on 16 March, 1893, at the age of 49.
