Songwriter. Wilkin, with co-writer, Danny Dill, wrote 'The Long Black Veil'. She was founder of a non-profit group that advocates for songwriters, Nashville Songwriters Association, and Wilkin is credited for discovering singer Kris Kristofferson. Wilkin and Kristofferson wrote 'One Day at a Time.' She was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1975, and she published her autobiography, 'Lord Let Me Leave a Song' in 1978.
