Musician. He gained fame as a Spanish orchestra leader and classical composer. He composed the soundtrack for 37 movies and composed 30 classic works. He was a member of Generation of '27 and the Group of Eight, which had many respected musicians as members. He worked actively as a conductor with such orchestras as the Madrid Symphony Orchestra and the Spanish National Orchestra. As a child, he was an accomplished musician before he had courses in harmony, counterpoint, and fugue at the Madrid Royal Conservatory at age 14. He immigrated to Argentina in 1940.
