Auto Race Car Driver. Oscar Cabalén was one of the greatest heroes of the Argentinian motorsport in the 1960s. He made his debut in the Turismo Carretera category on July, 1st, 1950. In 1953 he participated in the Carrera Panamericana, México, where he got a third place in his category (Special Touring). The following year the repeated the experience achieving a seventh place in the same category. In 1955 he raced the Mille Miglia at Italy, obtaining a fifth place in his category (Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Veloce). During that year he traveled around the world with his master and closer friend, the great Juan Manuel Fangio. Back in Argentina, Cabalén got the Turismo Carretera`s vice-championship in 1961 behind Oscar A. Galvez. In 1966 he won the Gran Premio de Turismo driving a Ford Mustang. In 1967 he was one of the members of the Ford Argentina racing team, and lost his life testing a Sport Prototipo car at San Nicolás, Provincia de Buenos Aires on August 25, in the accident also was killed his mechanic, Guillermo Arnaiz.
