Actor. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he was hired by a new movie studio, L-KO pictures, as their answer to comic actor Fatty Arbuckle in 1914. He spent his entire career with L-KO, making almost fifty comedy shorts over almost four years, including his debut, 'Love and Surgery' in 1914, followed by such titles as 'Love and Sour Notes,' 'Shot in a Bar Room' and 'A Janitor's Joyful Job' in 1915; 'Pants and Petticoats,' Pirates of the Air,' and 'Unhand me, Villain' in 1916; 'Crooks and Crocodiles' and 'Brave Little Waldo' in 1917. He was also credited as director for 'Fatty's Feature Fillum' (1917) a burlesque short in two reels. In 1916, he made headlines, when he was touted as a hero for tackling a runaway horse and bringing it to its knees before it could trample a man and his child. His last short, 'Neptune's Naughty Daughter,' appeared in November 1917 shortly before his death from heart failure at age 30. Fewer than 10 percent of all L-KO films are known to have survived to the modern era.
