Actor and writer. The son of Clinton E. Lloyd and Marguerite James, Rollo Lloyd was originally a stage director and writer. He went to Hollywood in 1932 to write screenplays and act in character and supporting parts in motion pictures. Roles included the Ghazi in "Lives of a Bengal Lancer" (1935) and Napoleon Bonaparte in "Anthony Adverse" (1936). Among his many other films were "Okay America" (1932), "Laughter in Hell" (1932), "Carnival Lady" (1933),"Today We Live" (1933), "Out All Night" (1933), "Private Scandal" (1934), "Whom the Gods Destroy," (1934), "Bride of Frankenstein" (1935), "Mad Love" (1935), "Barbary Coast" (1935), "The Man Who Reclaimed His Head" (1935), "Murder on a Honeymoon" (1935), "Come and Get It" (1936), "Magnificent Obsession" (1936), "The Devil Doll" (1936), "The Emperor's Candlesticks" (1937), "Seventh Heaven" (1937), "The Women Men Marry" (1937), "Arsine Lupin Returns" (1938), "Lady in the Morgue" (1938), "Night Spot" (1938), "Goodbye Broadway" (1938)and "Spawn of the North" (1938). He also contributed to the scripts of "Prestige" (1932, in which he also acted), "The Mystery Man" (1935), "Revolt of the Zombies" (1936), "I Conquer the Sea" (1936, also acted) and "The Man From Headquarters" (1942). Rollo Lloyd died at his home at 2268 Canyon Drive in Los Angeles of acute myocarditis with chronic nephritis. Survivors included his wife, Ethel, and son, Rollo Bruce Lloyd.
