US Congressman from Pennsylvania's 10th Congressional district, was born in Myerstown, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, on October 17, 1794. Following the study of medicine he began practicing in Harrisburg.. During the War of 1812 he served as a private in Capt. R. M. Crane's company of Pa. Volunteers and later as surgeon's mate in Maj. Gen. Watson's company. Following the war he returned to Harrisburg and became involved in politics. In 1936 he was elected to the Twenty fifth Congress and served one term 1837-1839. Following his stint in Congress he returned to the practice of medicine in Harrisburg, He passed on February 20, 1854.
