Professional Boxer. He fought under the name of Joe Sharkey. He began his career in 1927 in Long Branch N.J. where he KO'd Swede Bergen. Nicknamed the "Michigan Thunderbolt," Joe was known as one of the hardest hitting welterweights of his day in the late 1920s and early 1930s. He fought a total of 67 bouts during his career in the east and midwest including in the states of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Illinois, and Manitoba, Canada. His career was ended in 1932 following an eye injury during a sparring match in Chicago. He was the son of Croatian immigrants, Ladislav "Slavko" and Aloyza (Obraz) Pacic, and grew up in Albion, Michigan.
