Blues musician. Born Connie Curtis Crayton in Rockdale, Texas. He began playing the guitar in the 1930's; his smooth vocal style was copied by many blues guitarist; he was best known as Pee Wee Crayton. "Blues After Hours" was one of his first blues instrumentals that reached #1 on the R/B chart in 1948. He followed up with other imaginative recordings: "Poppa Stoppa and Texas Hop". It is thought that he was the first to use the Fender Stratocaster which was given to him by Leo Fender. Although Pee Wee was a long time resident of Topanga, California, it was Los Angeles where he died of a heart attack.
