Musician, Composer. He was a powerful force in the New Zealand music industry. His success in creating some of the most popular Maori music of the last two decades, as well as his neverending work for promoting ethnic talent, and recently his dedication to "MOKOMOKAI" (The return of preserved Maori Heads, taken in the last century). As well as producing the #1 hit Album Poi E', Maui wrote the music for the film "Ngati, one of New Zealands most watched films. He was also known for his infectious giggle. His Whakapapa(Ancestory) was from Ngati Ruanui. His Tangi (Lying in state and funeral)was at Pareroa Marae, where the Deed of Settlement was signed for the Ngati Ruanui Tribe.
