Negro league baseball player. Born Elias Bryant, he had a long career as an outfielder began in 1918, playing for the Hilldale club and the Atlantic City Bacharach Giants. He would also have stints with the New York Lincoln Giants, Washington Potomacs and Brooklyn Royal Giants until his final season in 1933. Known as one of the best outfielders of his era, he possessed good speed and a quality bat. Recognized as an on-field entertainer who please fans with acts such as batting on his knees or pretending to dig a grave for an umpire on the field. On Christmas Day 1937, he was killed by his brother-in-law Raymond Terrell, after being knocked down and fracturing his skull.
