U.S. Congressman. He attended David Lipscomb College, (1936-38), graduated from Harding College Arkansas, in 1940 and during World War II, served in the U.S. Army Air Corps, (1942-46). He was a member of the Tennessee State General Assembly, (1967-68), a member of the Tennessee State Senate, (1969-70) and a delegate to Tennessee State Republican conventions, (1964-71). In 1971, he was elected as a Republican to the Ninety-second and Ninety-third Congresses, serving until 1975. After being defeated for reelection, he served as the regional representative for the secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation, (1981-85).
