Deceased Name: BETTY MARIE COLLINS PARKS
Our loving mother and wife, Betty Marie Collins Parks, 78 years old, made a peaceful journey to Heaven on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, and is in the arms of our Lord. Mom was born in Bozeman on Oct. 20, 1929, to John and Ivene Johnson, one of 13 children.
She spent her growing up years in Bozeman, often tagging along with her dad while he worked at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Mom enjoyed ice skating, sledding and any other outdoor activities as a child.
Mom married our father, Boyd F. Collins, on June 20, 1946, and from that union were born three children: Robert E Collins, Linda Diane Collins Wright and Camella M. Collins Van Antwerp. Boyd and Betty lived in Manhattan, where they raised their family. Boyd passed away in 1980, at which time Betty moved to Bremerton, Wash. Mom enjoyed working at Gold Mountain Golf Resort, where she met many close friends. On Aug. 5, 1988, she married Joe Parks in Bremerton, Wash. They lived there until moving to Belfair, Wash., then to Manhattan, Mont., in 1999 to be near her daughter.
Mom's greatest joy in life were her children and grandchildren and having her family gathered together. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, doll making, ceramics and knitting. Mom loved her God, her husband, her children and grandchildren, all of whom will sadly and greatly miss her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 11 of her siblings, our father Boyd Collins and son Robert (Bob) Collins, whom she deeply missed.
Family and relatives will gather to say a final "Good-bye" at the Meadow View Cemetery in Manhattan on Monday, Aug 25, at 2 p.m.
We love you mom and are so saddened, but we rejoice in knowing you have found your mansion in the sky.
Many of life's loveliest things are quite plentiful in number … like the stars that shine, fields of wildflowers and brilliant sunsets. But there's just one of the most beautiful gifts of all … and she's called Mother.
Arrangements are in the care of Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service.
