Obituary:
MATTHEW O'NEAL.
The flickering lamp of life which has been feebly burning for many weeks and months at last went out at midday Tuesday, August 11.
The mourning family, separated for many years, were reunited at the bedside to receive the dying blessing of an honored parent and beloved husband.
In the death of Matthew O'Neal this community loses a good citizen, who since 1858 has been identified with the history of the town and county, always taking an active and intelligent part in public affairs, and ever ready to assist a neighbor.
Deceased knew well that the end of his earthly career was at hand and the arrangements for his funeral were made under his direction, the pall bearers being neighbors of his own selection.
The funeral service was held this morning at the Catholic church and was largely attended.
Deceased was born at Quebec in 1831. He was married in 1852 at Cleveland, Ohio, to Catherine Miller, who survives him. He was a cooper by trade and settled in Harrisville 38 years ago.
