Retired member of the Washington, D.C. Fire Dept (DCFD).
He was a native Washingtonian
He was appointed to the fire dept. in 1912 and retired in 1942 while assigned to Engine Co. 24.
From 1942-1946, he was the 1st Fire Chief at the U.S. Navy facility at Indian Head, Md, then called the Powder Factory. Today it is known as part of the Naval Surface Warfare command. He set up an alarm system while assigned there.
