Martha Brown Daeschner died on September 14, 2013.

She leaves her children, John & Marian Brown, Jeff & Karen Brown, Jack & Katie Brown, Charles Daeschner, Mary & David Sydow, and Martha & David Peacock as well as twelve grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Lee Brown in 1989 and her second husband, C.W. Daeschner, Jr. M.D. in 2009. She has been provided with loving support to her for many years by her special caregivers and friends, Gabriella Moran & Connie Martinez. The family would like to extend special gratitude to Dr. Barbara Thompson and Dr. Joan Richardson for their gracious, kind, healing hands and hearts.

Martha was born in Ballinger, TX in 1927, and grew up in Georgetown, Texas. She graduated from North Texas University and moved to Galveston with her first husband in 1947 and has lived the rest of her life on her beloved island. She taught in GISD elementary school until 1958 when she retired to become a full-time housewife and mother of her three sons. She was a member of the Moody Memorial First United Methodist Church and had a special interest in the establishment of Libbie’s Place, a day care for senior citizens. She had many friends in her church family and otherwise.

She was devoted to her family and their well-being. Her family was her treasure and always foremost in her mind. She thoughtfully cared for all of them and shared her gracious giving heart to no end in many meaningful ways. She was beyond loyal, loving, and adoring to each of them.
Martha was known as “Mamaw” to her grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. She had an abundance of love for them and made each one feel so very special in their own way. Mamaw was very important to them. They admired, respected and cherished her presence in their lives. She wanted everything wonderful and good for them all.
Martha’s faith was her spirit for life. She trusted in His love and guidance. She believed all things were possible thru God who loves us and encouraged her family not to exclude Him from their decisions and walk in life. Martha reminded us to live each day to the fullest, think good thoughts, and trusting tomorrow to God’s will for us.

Martha imprinted many lives with her love, compassion, and kindness. She always went above and beyond to make everyone feel special. However, she was the special one in all of our hearts. She had a way with words that made you feel comforted and hopeful. Her strong faith and trust in the Lord was very admirable. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will forever be remembered.
